My friends and the other couple were taken advantage of and in now way deserve to be spoken about in relation to this situation in the context of any involvement in the deception of any member. Anyone that knows Gold's Gym knows the history behind the owner's business practices and habits of getting investors to buy in, then screwing them out of their money. I have been asked to read the above comments so I may go on record to defend and/or submit deposition in the defense of my good friends who feel they are now victim to this nonsense and slander. It seems that the allegations made by "tommygun" then the apparent apology made by this tommygun character are one sided. I happed to know one of the two couples, and no of the other couple mentioned above, that had goals of running and managing that Gold's Gym before the long time owner Walter pulled another fast one and sold the member base to Lifestyles Family Fitness in Brandon. The entire concept of anytime fitness is a great way to serve your community promoting fitness and health with a facility that is open 24hrs, but when you are at athe mercy of an owner that lacks common respect and civility-one should approach with extreme caution.
All this would have amounted to four memberships for his business, yet he doesn't have the ability to see that for a business to thrive and succeed, one must be nice to your customers! His shadiness and rudeness only makes me question having this gym draft any payment out of anyone's account. I also had my neighbor and sister in law. My husband went in there months ago to inquire and finally now, we were ready to join. He told us we could stay working out where we were. He was extremely rude to my husband and then myself on the phone. His evasiveness when I called to join was totally unacceptable. Rightfully so, the gyms are not making the money they used to with the current economy. Most require you to authorize a draft from your bank account. Gyms are Gyms when it comes to the fees and how they operate. It wasn't only me who was interested on join it, I had friends and family too that we're interested too. Robert Clairmont doesn't care about customers at all. We had to report this to the corporation of Anytime fitness who were very nice to us. My husband had to cancel his credit card, scared of his threat. My husband tried to work things out with him but this rude man has no manners, Robert even said if I want right now I could charge you $250 to your account. What kind of response Robert had? Well in front of everybody over there he raised up his voice treating us as kids told us just for doing that I'm canceling your membership. Hey I brought my wife to the gym and she wants to join and here we are. We went personally to the gym the day after and my husband told Robert. The next day my husband called several times the gym to add me but he never picked up. My husband told Robert the day before that he was bringing me over to check on the gym, he was aware of it and he agreed. Well I went over to check on the gym at night time with my husband after work and I told him to call Robert to let them know I was agreeing to join. Recently I was interested on join the Gym with my husband who joined couple of days before and he was very enthusiastic with it and because my long hours of work as A Doctor regular gyms are kind of hard for me. My complain is about the owner of this franchise in Seffner.
