“Coach McCollum brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion for our community,” said Dr. The coach holds a degree from South Carolina and has two Master’s degrees in the area of education. He led the Raiders to the AA state championship game in 2014, the school’s first-ever appearance. McCollum has been a head coach at one other school, guiding the Keenan High program from 2013-15. “I am thankful to God for the opportunity to serve and lead the program and community back to prominence, along with being grateful to the individuals that helped influence my development as a person and professional,” McCollum said in his statement when he was hired. McCollum was an assistant on the football staff last season and was promoted to head coach when Bobby Collins stepped down to take the head coaching job at South Pointe High School in Rock Hill. For a period of time, beginning in 1999, McCollum served as an assistant coach at his alma mater and was on the staff that helped guide the Bulldogs to the 2001 state championship. He embarked on a coaching career after college that has taken him to several schools, both as an assistant coach and head coach. McCollum was one of the original football players in the Marlboro County program, graduating in 1990. This time as the school’s head football coach and athletic director.
